Talks with the Artists: An Interview with Apexer

Apexer, also known as Ricardo Richey, is a street artist with a background in graphic design and architecture. Apexer creates color fused abstract patterns and inventive forms through the use of spray paint.

Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, the murals of Apexer can be found throughout San Francisco on exterior walls and buildings as well as in curated collections of top technology firms in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, nationally and internationally. Interior exhibition sites include the Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena, CA; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco. Exterior mural sites include Art Basil Miami, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston Philadelphia, Seattle, San Diego, San Jose, Austin, and Denver.

International sites include Kuwait, Taiwan, Argentina, Mexico, Paris, Spain and Dubai.  Apexer was an artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts in 2007 and has featured in documentaries and publications regarding the Mission District in San Francisco. His work has appeared in numerous magazine interviews as well as a short documentary for PBS.org.
