The economic toll of the Covid crisis on Latin America has been catastrophic. The IMF has projected that the region’s economy will shrink by 9.4 percent this year, by far the worst recession the region has ever faced. Panelists will identify the short- and long-term effects of Covid on the region’s economies and discuss what kinds of medium- and long-term investments and policy changes will be necessary not only to recover but also to tackle such underlying challenges as informality and inequality that made Latin America the global epicenter of the crisis.
