Our most recent Featured Scholar is Rodrigo Fr\u00edas<\/strong> from the Babson Chilean Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators (SEE) program, 2017<\/strong>. Rodrigo is currently the Director of Early Investment in the entrepreneurship division of the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO). You\u2019ll find his most recent work on the role of the entrepreneurship policies in Chile<\/strong> to tackle the social crisis, and now also in the face of COVID. This year, he was also selected as the global finalist of the UK Alumni Award by the British Council<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where are you from?<\/strong> Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did you study?<\/strong> I have a Masters of Science in Technology and Innovation Management from the University of Sussex in the UK, 2014-2015. I also have a Master of Arts in Applied Communication, majoring in Engagement Marketing; and Bachelor in Social Communications, majoring in Advertising (Chile).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you do?<\/strong> I\u2019m the Director of Early Investment in the entrepreneurship division of the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO). <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your areas of interest? <\/strong>Innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, public policy, smart cities, sharing economy, education, and sustainability. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being selected by the Luksic Scholars program was a unique opportunity to meet professionals with the same purpose. Also, to connect with scholars from Babson College which is a very well-known university in terms of entrepreneurship.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you believe has been the biggest impact of having attended a Luksic Scholars program<\/strong>?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From a professional side, the program provided me with a deep understanding of how to teach entrepreneurship<\/strong>, but also gave me a full perspective of the best methods to use in an agile way. From a personal perspective, it gave me the opportunity to be part of a dedicated network that seeks to promote entrepreneurship education from different sectors and organizations. I’m really looking forward to exploring any chances to collaborate with other fellows from different generations.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is there any advice you would give to other Scholars?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Studying entrepreneurship through specific methodologies is a good starting point. However, if you really want to go deeper, then you will need to get more knowledge in order to understand the dynamics and impact of entrepreneurship in our society. Mainly because people think that entrepreneurship is a “new field related to startups”, but in fact, it\u2019s not. There are tons of academic papers, research centers, and practitioners that are providing top-tier tools, evidence, and cases to shed light on how to teach, learn and design better entrepreneurship policies and educational programs. A holistic perspective is key to developing a better sector.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
